Broeder wins Hayward Award

03.09.17

From Thais Winsome, MCAS President:

Please join me in congratulating our very own Marina Broeder, ESL faculty, who has been selected to receive the 2017 Excellence in Education Hayward Award!

The Hayward Award is conferred by the California Community Colleges System Board of Governors upon four faculty members annually who have been nominated by peers from their college. Awards are given to both full- and part-time faculty. Named for former California Community College Chancellor Gerald C. Hayward, the award honors outstanding community college faculty who have a track record of excellence both in teaching and in professional activities and have demonstrated commitment to their students, profession, and college. Recipients of the Hayward Award receive a plaque and a $1,250 cash award. This award is sponsored by the Foundation for California Community Colleges, and recipients will be recognized by the Board at their March 20 meeting in Sacramento.

I can't think of a person more deserving of this award than Marina. Not only does she excel in the classroom, but she does an incredible amount of outreach for Mission college through her work in the community with immigrant and under served populations. Well done, Marina!
